Zorlu PSM will host Matrixxman on Saturday 20 January. Set to start at 22:00, tickets are priced at 50 TL and available via Biletix.
From the organizer:
A new force in techno has emerged. Futurist techno producer Matrixxman will be at Zorlu PSM Studio on January 20th in collaboration with Jeton Records!
Amid a serious dearth of US techno producers in recent years, Charles Duff, also known as Matrixxman, has been busy soundtracking the technological singularity that unfolds before us. His sound tends to be cold and mechanised yet somehow retains an element of warmth, perhaps even soul, if you will. A lone spark of instantiated humanity that refuses to be extinguished by the din of automata marching toward us.
The essence of which is crafting new interpretations of something straddling the grey area between classic Chicago house and Detroit techno. “Resurgent techno atavism” as he prefers to call it. In 2013, Matrixxman’s debut EP “The XX Files” received critical acclaim garnering praise from the likes of The Fader, Pitchfork, XLR8R and Fact Magazine. His relentless rhythm track “Protocol” has been supported and played by a who’s who of dope underground elite including Levon Vincent, Richie Hawtin, Len Faki, Jeff Mills, Boddika, Pfirter and Dubfire. Meanwhile on the house side of things, various tunes of his have been rinsed by tastemakers such as Larry Heard, Joey Anderson, HNNY, Huerco S., Seth Troxler, San Soda and Damian Lazarus, to name a few.
After a steady output of EPs on labels like Dekmantel, Planet Rhythm, and Delft, he released his first full-length album Homesick on Ghostly International in July of 2015.
Endeavoring to construct “the most futuristic shit ever” with just a year under his belt, Matrixxman is a name that will be known for years to come.
