Karma Series #1 “Lucid”, an evening of contemporary dance curated by Korhan Başaran, will take place at Moda Stage Theatre on Tuesday 20 June. The fun is set to kick off at 20:00, with tickets priced at 35 TL (25 TL for students) and available online.

Curated by Korhan Başaran, a choreographer based in Istanbul and New York, the “Karma Series #1 / Lucid” includes samples of works of contemporary dance produced / presented in Turkey. Besides creating a new platform for artists to share their works, the program also aims to reach to a diverse audience. “Lucid” programs dance pieces that chooses to express the inner world in the most simplest, subtlest approach.
The first of the Karma Series will premiere at Moda Sahnesi, Kadikoy on the 20th of June, 2017 at 8pm. Karma Series #1; “Lucid” is an evening of contemporary dance which includes Canan Yucel Pekicten’s “Der Zwerg”, where she was awarded the first prize at the International Gdansk Solo Dance Contest, Poland. Ebru Cansiz’ newest creation “six nineteen” will be performed by Mert Oztekin and Buse Ercan with music by Tolga Zafer Ozdemir. Korhan Basaran’s “Broken” created originally in New York, re-premiered this season in Istanbul it’s duet version with the dancer Umut Sevgul is another piece from the evening. Lastly Brooklyn based dancer / choreographer Christiana Axelsen will join the evening with her new solo work “Trip Spill” which she questions the role and possibilities of dance in times of personal or political disorientation.
