Babylon Bomonti will host Lebanese singer-songwriter Yasmine Hamdan on Friday 19 May. Doors are set to open at 21:30, with tickets priced at 56 TL and available via Biletix.
From the organizer:
Yasmine Hamdan caught attention with her appearance in Jim Jarmusch’s movie “Only Lovers Left Alive”, where she performed the song “Hal”. The Lebanese singer and song writer is inspired by names such as Kate Bush, Nick Cave, and PJ Harvey. Together with the Middle East’s first indie/electronic band Soapkills, Hamdan has become an icon across the Arab world during the 2000’s and is well known for her awareness raising songs that combine sounds and ideas. Yasmine Hamdan’s “Ya Nass” became a major hit in 2013. Her latest album is “Al Jamilat”. Yasmine Hamdan has also worked with Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, and Carl Barat) and Luke Smith, who is known for his successful works with Foals, Depeche Mode, and Lily Allen. Introducing a new approach to Arabic music, Hamdan adds electronic and pop elements to folk music in her songs.
