Dans Yazım, in collaboration with ÇATI and Alt Art Space, will host Korhan Başaran‘s “Gathering Harmony in the Unknown” workshop as part of their Yaratım Atölyleri Series at Alt. The five-day workshop takes place on January 14,15,21,22 and 28. The general public are invited on Sunday 22 January to observe a session from 15:00 to 16:00. The final performance, resulting from the workshop and open to the public, takes place on Sunday 29 January at 17:00. While entry is free, there will be a tip box for the performers.

The new generation of audience in focus…
Yaratım Atölyeleri Serisi is a project of Dans Yazım, launched in 2015 within the walls of ÇATI (Contemporary Dance Artists’ Association) located in Tophane.
The project itself was an answer to our own needs, the need of an audience stepping out from the common role of a passive receiver and taking one of an active contributor to the field of contemporary dance. Following the modern-day trends in the art field, especially those in Europe, the new generation of audience is looking for an experience, for a more sincere and direct connection with the pieces, their creators and the ways to give themselves a voice.
In its essence it is an artistic and educational project that allows its participants to explore the process of creation and the elements leading to a performance at the same time. By putting the pieces of the puzzle together, they get a better understanding of being an artist and the vehicles that are available for them to carry the emotional message towards the spectator.
The project this time, Yaratım Atölyeleri Serisi VI – Korhan Başaran: ‘Gathering Harmony in the Unknown’, is stepping away from its comfort zone in several ways. The 5-day workshop itself will challenge the performers, who under the mentorship of the choreographer, Korhan Başaran, will search for their own voice, and explore the unique vocabulary of their body within the common language of the group. They will become performers and authors at the same time. For the choreographer it is an opportunity to meet the young and create an active dialogue with them by letting them interact, shaping the inner and outside space. Leaving behind the usual studio walls, the alternative stages will offer new ways of working within the space, a possible game with each other and the audience.
We believe the project will act as an inspiration for the artists and art spaces, a way to point out the need of direct contact with the coming generation, listen to their needs and turn them into more sophisticated observers.
The workshops of Yaratım Atölyleri Serisi VI – Korhan Başaran : ‘Gathering Harmony in the Unknown’ will take place at Alt Art Space, Bomonti- Şişli on January 14-15-21-22-28 with 14 participants of different backgrounds.
The doors of the workshop will be open to the public, offering an insight into the work of the group on 22nd January, Sunday between 15.00 – 16.00.
The performance created throughout the intensive 5-day workshop will be presented on 29th January at 5 pm at the same venue.
