Everything Everything @ Salon IKSV

Salon IKSV will host Everything Everything on Saturday 21 April. Set to start at 22.30, tickets are priced at 70 TL (standing) and 55 TL (student) and are available via Biletix.

From the organizer:

Mancunian math-rock and experimental pop band, formed to defy what is expected from a group of guitar-playing Mancunian white dudes. Released their debut album ‘Man Alive’ in 2010, crashed all the year-end best of lists, showered in praise from every music journal under the sun and almost snatched the prestigious Mercury award from the hands of heavyweight PJ Harvey.

The success of the album resulted in a supporting spot on a tour headlined by Snow Patrol and Muse in 2012. Their sophomore effort ‘Arc’ in 2013 was proof of their competent sound. Band leader Jonathan Higgs spent the next two years nestled at home listening to the broadcast news and came up with the lyrics for their third album ‘Get to Heaven’, released in 2015.

By contrast with Higgs’ description of the album as “bible of horror” the set was packed with dynamic songs like “Distant Past” and “No Reptiles”. Inspired by early Warp Records bands such as Autechre, Aphex Twin, and Boards of Canada they leaned towards electronica on the genre scale with their 2017 album ‘A Fewer Dream’. Scoring high marks with each of their four albums, the band saluted their Istanbulite fans at the final Rock’n Coke in 2013 and again at One Love in 2015.

They don’t shy away from naming Destiny’s Child and R. Kelly as their inspirations along with Radiohead and Beatles. They effortlessly stood out amongst the short-lived indie-rock bands of early 2010s thanks to Higgs’ falsetto and his constant fascination in pushing vocal boundaries. They return to Istanbul after three years to play at Salon for the first time.
