Martijn Verhagen returned to life after a great loss with music, and began telling real stories to his listeners with his chanson-influenced music project Morpheus. He infiltrated our inner world in 2022 with Morphosis, his first short collection of songs, each of which he recorded in his home in a single take, turning his back on commercial studios. He reminds us of the purity of Charles Aznavour and Kate Bush, and the magic of telling a simple story. In the two-song Ride or Die, produced by Thomas Azier in 2024, he turned his face to electronic infrastructures this time, but did not compromise on the intensity of emotion. Morpheus is now on the Salon stage where old and new worlds will meet.
