Salon IKSV are set to host the innovative sound of Ayyuka, that ranges from psychedelic rock to funk, bossa nova and Afrobeat on Saturday 16 November. Doors are set to open at 21:00, with the performance kicking off at 22:00. Tickets are available via Passo.
From the organizer:
Ayyuka existed before the music of the ’70s turned into a goose that laid golden eggs. Formed in 2001 in Eskişehir, the band sought to bring a fresh voice to Turkish psychedelic music, drawing inspiration from masters like John Frusciante, Dick Dale, Erkin Koray, and Orhan Gencebay. What makes Ayyuka’s music unexpected and exciting is their commitment to pushing the boundaries of improvisation.
They released their eponymous debut album in 2007, exploring the worlds of rock and folk, and soon shared stages with Sonic Youth and Jonathan Richman. With Sömestr, they ventured into a purely instrumental album, which has since become a cult classic among record collectors. Their 2019 album, Maslak Halayı, solidified Ayyuka’s place in Turkish music history, securing their legacy in psychedelic rock and improvisation.
