“Where can I get my bike repaired and grab a cup of coffee?”
The idyllic, almost-sleepy neighborhood of Yeniköy is not a place many people flock to – yes, there are a few cute bars and some truly life-changing gelato places, but overall it lacks the urban excitement and bustle that generally draws crowds in Istanbul. Yet the true beauty of Yeniköy is not in its shopping or dining, but in its running and biking potential. Whether you want to jog happily along the Bosphorus or challenge yourself with a hillier route, Yeniköy has beautiful paths and wide, paved sidewalks on the water’s edge. The best times to go are in the morning and early evening, when the views of the water and the surrounding hills are utterly gorgeous.
Tucked right into the center of Yeniköy is Sedona Concept, the bike shop/café you’ve been looking for. This somewhat-secret spot does bike sales, rentals and repairs, and sells all the cycling gear you ever wanted (and plenty of gear you didn’t realize you wanted). Their employees are knowledgeable and friendly, and can offer you advice about the daunting task of cycling in Istanbul traffic. Not a biker? They still have something for you! Their café is open from 7am until midnight, and it’s a lovely place to sit with a book and a cup of artisanal cold-brewed coffee. Their barista is a true coffee genius who was recently awarded third place in Istanbul’s coffee festival. If coffee is not your thing, come for a cup of tea, a slice of fresh cake and their large collection of hipster-y bike and travel journals.
