Babylon is set to host a night of musical enchantment on Friday 3 November as the Waldeck Sextet, the acoustic project of the Viennese musician and producer Klaus Waldeck, takes center stage. Doors open at 21:00 and tickets are available via Biletix.
From the organizer:
Klaus Waldeck, known for his many different projects in nu-jazz, trip-hop, and downtempo genres, presents an extraordinary acoustic incarnation of his musical prowess through the Waldeck Sextet. This innovative project, conceived as a counterpart to Waldeck’s electronic projects, promises a unique and captivating experience for everyone.
The formation of the Waldeck Sextet occurred during a live and analog recording session at Vienna’s iconic Supersense Club. Diverging from his electronic roots, Waldeck spearheaded an analog arrangement devoid of electronic instrumentation. Collaborating with the city’s leading jazz musicians, the sextet draws inspiration from the golden age of 60s French cinema.
Imbued with the essence of classic film noir such as “Ascenseur Pour L’Échafaud” and the legendary improvised melodies of jazz virtuoso Miles Davis, the performance is an homage to this influential era. Adding another layer of allure, the exceptionally talented vocalist Patrizia Ferrara will grace the stage, lending her melodious voice to embellish each musical piece.
