Galeri Idil, a bridge connecting traditional and modern art, was founded by Idil Yılmaz in 2012. Now, this creditable art gallery in Nişantaşı closes the 2015-2016 art season with a group exhibition of eight artists.
The exhibition started on Friday 10 June and continues through Thursday 30 June. The most attractive feature being that painters with different styles are hosted in one place. Besides oil and acrylic paintings of different artists, a glazed tile ceramic porcelain series of Neşe Üremez is shown as well. Some of the featured artists include:
Olcay Derman: Born in 1941, this Akşehir born artist is also a doctor. Besides his 40 years of medical experience, Olcay Derman kept painting and was featured in several solo and group exhibitions. His mostly figurative paintings have an expressionist style. He continues displaying his works at his atelier in Istanbul.
Emine Doğru: Emine Doğru started painting in 1996. Since 2000, she has continued working with Mustafa Sekban. She has participated in one solo exhibition and nine group exhibitions so far. One of her recent projects includes painting Istanbul streets in her own style. In this exhibition, her works of Beyoğlu and Balat resonates with visitors.
Haydar Ekinek: Born in Van in 1967, Haydar Ekinek is a known pioneer in using nails as brushes to create linear structures. He became popular for his unique style and has been featured in many solo exhibitions in Turkey.
Victoria Göl: Victoria Göl was born in 1975 in Vladivostok, Russia. She received her bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a second degree in International Relations. She later completed a master’s degree in Psychology. Starting in 1999, she reproduced Van Gogh paintings. She worked with Güler Çakır and order of merit Kazakh artist Oleg Pishev. In 2015, she joined Eigil Nordstrom’s classes in the London Art Academy. In 2016 she joined the color, light and physical form classes at Andy Pankhurst Royal Art Academy. In 2012, she took part in a group exhibition in Atyrau and in 2016 held a solo exhibition.
Ahmet Güçsav: Ahmet Güçsav was born in 1959, in Istanbul. He finished his arts education in IDGSA (Istanbul State Fine Arts Academy). He was taught by Devrim Erbil, Özdemir Altan and Dinçer Erimez. Besides painting, he took part in many creative works in interior design and advertising fields. Ahmet Güçsav has many storyboard and illustration works as a part of world famous advertising agencies. Moreover, he did many decorative and design works for visual commercials. He has also worked digital visual applications for various hotels and banks, and done work on textile products. Despite all this, his passion for painting has always remained. He continues his work in his own atelier.
Olga Keleş: Born in Russia in 1987, Olga has worked as a model for 7 years and is still modeling for international fashion shows. She graduated from Arts School in 2004 and displayed her works in 2006 at Art Center Borey in Saint-Petersburg. In 2015, she did an exhibition in the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. Olga Keleş has created her own style which she calls “positivism”. She believes people see happiness, welfare and positive vibes when they look at her paintings and that is what she aims to give. She also believes colors are used to balance the physiological and psychological effects and have a therapeutic influence.
Melek Toraman: Melek Toraman is a fashion designer and she studied abroad in this field. She also represented Turkey very successfully in international surfing competitions in the Turkish national team after 2010. Recently, she has been working on modern abstract art together with her fashion design projects. In 2013 and 2015 she did exhibitions at Alaçatı, then she did another solo exhibition at Nişart. She has taken part in group exhibitions at both Nişart and Galeri Idil.
Neşe Üremez: Born in 1956 in Elazığ, Neşe graduated from the English Language and Literature department of Istanbul University. She translated two books for the Center of Hearing-Impaired People in Anadolu University. Then she worked as an instructor in Marmara University. She has been painting for 30 years. She first started working on her own with the talent and support of her family and then, she took classes from the late Ertuğrul Ergun, Ceylan Mutlu, İrfan Önrğmen, Mustafa Sekban, Ali Kartal and Ayhan Türker. She has participated in two solo and six other group exhibitions. Since 2009, she has been working in her own atelier located in Zekeriyaköy. She also works with ceramic and porcelain.
