Babylon Bomonti, as part of the Akbank Jazz Festival, will host French project Nouvelle Vague on Saturday 15 October. DJ Chris Tofu will follow with the midnight session. Set to start at 20:30, tickets are priced starting at 35 TL to 70 TL and available via Biletix (includes both) or tickets for just the midnight session which are 20 TL and available via Biletix.

A project by French musicians Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux, Nouvelle Vague skilfully blends the rebellious side of punk rock and intellectual depth of new wave with glamour and joy of bossa nova. Including extraordinary vocal talents such as Camille, Phoebe Killder, Nadeah, Melanie Pain and Liset Alea, the band became famous for their covers of world-famous artists like Joy Division, The Clash, Depeche Mode and Blondie. Their four albums released between 2004 and 2010 topped over one million sales and this led to band performing in many famous venus such as Royal Albert Hall in London, Olympia in Paris and Holywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Giving a break on album recordings in 2011, the band took a different direction and performed as part of shows and musicals directed by famous designer Jean Charles de Castelbajac.
Reinterpreting and re-editing old swing records, DJ Chris Tofu plays 20s and 30s greatest swing jazz hits and rarities. He has created its own dance floor friendly genre called “electro swing”, coming from Jazz Age’s roots. And now, the DJ will be in the unique atmosphere of Babylon for all the swing kids!
