IKSV Galas, organised by IKSV starts the new year with a most anticipated film: THE WHALE by Darren Aronofsky. The screenings are on 16 January at Kadıköy and 17 January at Atlas 1948 movie theatres at 21.30.
Brendan Fraser’s outstanding comeback, The Whale follows a recluse English teacher whose mental as well as physical health deteriorates due to his being overweight. Brendan Fraser plays Charlie, who is obsessed with the whale in Moby Dick, and tries to reconnect with his estranged daughter.
The Whale is Darren Arronofsky’s first film since 2017’s Mother. The world premiere of The Whale was at the Venice Film Festival where it received a standing ovation and won the Interfilm, UNICEF Golden Leoncino, Milano Cinematheque Best Foreign Film awards. The Whale is adapted to screen by Samuel D. Hunter from his own play. The film stars Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink, Hong Chau, Ty Simpkins, Samantha Morton.
