Formerly known as the Coach Men, Captain Jack and the Bleeding Hearts have been rocking audiences since their inception back in 2007. Starting as a neighborhood group of busy professionals just wanting to get together and jam for the therapeutic benefits of playing music, CJATBH have turned into a fun-loving band that leaves their audiences happy — and sweaty — from dancing the night away.
The key to the band’s success is that they get together each week to practice and engage in music making, something they all love. Some of them are classically trained, others are self-taught, and when they come together they re-create sounds we all know and love. A cover band, they have an eclectic sound that allows them to play songs from a variety of musical genres; sometimes in keeping with the original, sometimes in their own way, depending on how their instrumentation fits with the song in question.
The magic comes from their love of music, and this shows in how much fun they have when playing together. A regular to the band’s performances said, “CJATBH are clearly great friends and it was obvious how much they enjoyed getting together to play as a band. More importantly, they really interacted with the audience, so the more we enjoyed it, the more they did.”
CJATBH have it all — bass guitar, electric guitar, saxophone, drums, and a keyboard, which lends sounds ranging from string orchestra to honky-tonk piano — not to mention three fabulous lead singers who moonlight as English teachers.
Another fan says, “I loved their eclectic mix of great songs and certainly wasn’t the only one who felt the need to dance to every one.” So get your glad rags on and meet us on the dance floor as we while away the evening to the rockin’ tunes of Captain Jack and the Bleeding Hearts at the We Are All Refugees II benefit concert. The concert will take place at Tunnel Sahne in Taksim on Saturday 30 May.
