From the organizer:
Bringing together the moody rhythms of Reykjavik with the audience, Janus Rasmussen, half of Kiasmos, and young producer Fejká, inspired by Germany’s dystopian ‘Black Forest’ atmosphere, are coming to %100 Studio on the evening of February 3, as part of PSM Loves2Dance
Janus Rasmussen (Kiasmos)
The solo output of Reykjavik producer Janus Rasmussen can be best understood as a distillation of his many diverse collaborations to date. Originally from the Faroe Islands, Janus has spent the last decade creating, performing, and innovating with other artists across myriad musical genres, amassing a wealth of experience and inspiration that’s now plainly audible in his own melodic brand of experimental electronic music.
Janus’s Nordic Music Council Prize–nominated debut album, Vín, saw him hone his minimal techno chops into an hour-long exploration of acoustic textures and electronic sound design that peaks and lulls like a well-crafted DJ set. In his most recent work, he meshes Vín’s dancefloor rhythms and dark sonic palette with his own vocals and a renewed focus on songcraft. While none of the individual elements here are new to Janus, their novel recombination and juxtaposition sounds a purposeful statement of intent that runs counter to the prevailing current of electronic dance music.
Aside from his own music, Janus performs alongside Ólafur Arnalds as one half of KIASMOS. The duo’s recorded output has gained worldwide acclaim and seen them invited to perform at many of the world’s major festivals. Janus also collaborates regularly with other members of Reykjavik’s growing music scene, acting variously as a producer, songwriter, musician, and mix engineer.
Fejká
‘Fejká’ is not just a word, but a concept – a melodic blend between soft, dreamy atmospheres and the punchy vibe of techno. Wavering between those two worlds like a lone wanderer, he developed his own unique way to find a perfect balance between both. His music offers a very atmospheric and soulful sound, laying somewhere between melancholy and euphoria, resulting in a unique interpretation of emotions which is seldom heard on the dancefloor.
Originally from the Black Forest in Germany, he began producing his first tracks at just 17. Influences such as Kiasmos, HVOB and Christian Löffler contributed significantly to his development and shaped his atmospheric, and yet punchy style, until he received a personal invite from none other than Löffler himself to join his label, Ki Records. With the release of his EP ‘Twilight’, Fejka made an impressive debut into the world of electronic music and has already been celebrated as an insider tip in some circles. Having finished his studies in audiovisual media in 2019 in Stuttgart, he released his first studio album, ‘Reunion’, which only increased the surrounding excitement and quickly established him as a full-time artist in the scene.
After touring in numerous European countries until the end of 2019, Fejká returned to an intimate and rather introverted phase of music production in the following two years, leading to his highly anticipated second album ‘Hiraeth’, which will be out in Fall 2022.
