From the organizer:
Erkan Oğur Anatolian Blues and Tingvall Trio is ready to meet you at Zorlu PSM Drama Stage on May 22 as a part of Vestel #gururlayerli concerts!
Erkan Oğur Anatolian Blues
Playing the violin, baglama, flute and cumbus since he was 4, Erkan Oğur was able to play nearly any instrument with strings. Oğur started to play the guitar influenced by Jimi Hendrix and invented the fretless guitar in 1976, when he was 22 years old. After his physics education in Ankara University and Munich University, he graduated from Istanbul State Conservatory Department of Music Theory. Along with his competence in instruments such as the oud, e-bow, fretless guitar, classical guitar and electro guitar, Erkan Oğur also made a name for himself with his vocals in the many albums he has released since 1982, as well as in his contributions to the albums of other esteemed musicians. Having been awarded the Best Creative Album Award in Europe with Fretless (1994), Oğur also won an award for Best Music at Antalya Film Festival in 2004, with the score he composed for Yazı Tura.
In 1995, he formed “Telvin” with İlkin Deniz and Turgut Alp Bekoğlu. Telvin means colors. In tasavvuf tradition it literally means transition between forms, urging to find yourself along the path. The path itself is Telvin. Throughout a decade, Telvin performed through various concerts national and international and released their debut album in 2006. With Engin Recepoğulları on saxophone, Sinan Cem Eroğlu on kaval, Çağrı Sertel on keys and İzzet Kızıl on percussion they formed “Anatolian Blues” quintet. The project is the synthesis of two passions of the quintet: the love for cazz and blues together with the history and tradition of Anatolia.
Tingvall Trio
Martin Tingvall, Omar Rodriguez Calvo, Jürgen Spiegel: a Swede, a Cuban and a German. Three men who have made Hamburg their home. A pianist, a base player, a drummer. Together they create an unmistakable sound all its own. A sound and songs which even appeal to people who normally don’t listen to jazz.
With concerts in more than 30 countries, a full measure of accolades including the German ECHO JAZZ as „Ensemble of the Year“ and „Live Act of the Year“, Jazz awards in gold for each of the trio’s studio albums, No. 1 on the Jazz charts and even high ranking on the Pop charts, the trio’s popularity has attained a level usually marked by current pop bands.
