Have you ever wanted to learn more about the wonderful art you see on the walls and inside the sacred sites that burst with colour and various ethnic patterns? Laurelie Rae, a Turkish Islamic Artist is opening her studio to the public, located in the heart of Balat. In this 4 week course, you will learn the basics of Islamic Geometry and İznik Ceramics and make your very own piece of art and take it home to display and share with your loved ones.
Courses
You will learn to create the traditional Turkish motifs seen throughout the walls of the mosques of İstanbul. You will then learn to apply and paint your design on to the plate. Works will then be fired and once finished the students may pick up and keep their completed work.
Time: 10.00 AM – 1.00 PM Islamic Geometry Course
You will begin with the basics of how to use a compass. Moving on, we will create the geometric patterns found throughout the sacred sites in the city which you can visit afterwards. Learn colour composition using natural, handmade pigmented watercolour paint to complete your drawings.
