From the organizer:

We are happy to announce our new Dans Yazım Academy workshop as “Dance Writing III – with KÖM” in partnership with KÖM by L1 Association from Hungary with the mentorship of Orsolya Balint, the head of KÖM and critic with 13 years of experience.

The aim of the workshop is to give a useful introduction (or initiation) into the path of a dance writer, with practical tips and hints. Special focus will be on individual strengths and abilities, to help to find and trust our own, original voice. The participants of the workshop will attend a selected performance and will reflect on the piece as a collective. In addition, each participant will be given individual feedback on his/her own writing.

Posing some questions:
* What should I read? Theoretical background can be acquired along the process, whilst reading current reviews keeps us up to date, and we can learn a lot from our colleagues.
* When I go to see a performance, what should I pay attention to? (Movement, scenery, music, lights etc.)
* How can I get into interaction with performances? How can I connect to performances without a narrative? (looking for ‘images’)
* Using our existing interpretation strategies and developing new approaches
* Not every dancer is a great choreographer/dramaturge/light designer/composer/videographer – synergies within a performance
* Timing and proportions, structure (also, non-linear performances)
* Taking notes?
* Is it necessary to know more about the artist’s creative process or to read the brochure? Special cases, when the process becomes the product (research performances) or showcases (showing only details of complete works).
* What only watching an artist’s daily practice/talking to an artist can give you
