From the organizer:

x-ist dedicated the last exhibition of the year, to be held between December 1-31, 2016, to humour. In the exhibition entitled ‘Ugly’, which brings together 14 caricature artists including one of x-ist’s artists, Cem Dinlenmiş, the notion of ugly is addressed from different humorous points of view.

Rendering contemporary problems ponderable and maybe laughable by expressing them through humour, this time the caricature artists meet the audience with their works as a reply to how outside the form of caricature they can address the uglinesses of the world in which we are living. Although among them there are names like Cem Dinlenmiş And Göksu Gül who are both caricaturists and artists, most of the names participating in the exhibition meet the audience in the exhibition ‘Ugly’ for the first time with their attempts of artistic productions outside the form of caricature. While some of them address the notion of ugly as a social taboo, some as the opposite of beautiful, some as the bandit face of the city, and some as dirty sides of nature getting mixed in its numerous beauties, we are faced with the irony that the ugly is the indispensable of our life.
