“Food, People, Places” Web Series Debuts in Istanbul

Reframe, a video production group based out of Berlin, has launched a new video web series on culinary culture from around the world. The series, titled “Food, People, Places”, recently launched and features Istanbul as their jumping off point. Their first two videos are below and feature many familiar sights (and likely some new ones) for those of us living here.

Here’s a bit more about Reframe from the organizers themselves:

Food, People, Places is the new webvideo series about food culture from all over the world. We currently have three formats: atmospheric “A taste of…“ videos to introduce new cities, portraits of passionate characters working in food culture called “Food Rebels“, and “Culinary Crossroads“ in which we show you fascinating places where people gather to enjoy their meals. In the future we will feature recipe videos from different cultures and will bring more formats to the channel. We’ll interact with our global audience on who, where & what is happening in international food culture.

Food, People, Places is brought to you by REFRAME – Videos for the web (www.reframevideos.com). We are a creative network of filmmakers from Berlin, Germany who are focusing on moving content for internet. We offer our customers carefully crafted high-quality storytelling and making sure their content strategy fits today’s connected audiences.

The idea for Food, People, Places came up, when Reframe’s director Rusch Meyer was visiting Markthalle 9, a street food market in Berlin-Kreuzberg. He was meeting there with his friends almost every week, and these gatherings felt so lively, that he started thinking about how food influences our culture. Cooking & Eating belong to our most basic everyday tasks and normally we don’t pay much attention to them. When Rusch was visiting the street food market, he witnessed how much people were enjoying the international food and their company. He asked his friend and colleague Otto to join him to find out more about food culture from all over the world and they went on their first trip to Istanbul. Right now they are further discovering their home town Berlin and in Autumn they are planning another trip through Europe.
