“Obstacles” @ Space Debris

When art becomes a direct medium through which we transfer our lives and expose ourselves in a variety of materials and objects. When we can express our raw feelings creatively, without fear.

Channeling negative emotions and reactions into an artistic creation rather than destructive emotion, self-harm, or harm inflicted upon others. That is the challenge.

It’s where artist Zeynep Birced excels.

Obstacles at Space Debris

Colorful balloons greet you at the entrance of Space Debris gallery in Karaköy, a well-known art space for young and must-see artists.

It’s part of Zeynep’s fun character that infuses the concept of obstacles, the subject of her latest exhibition, and her love of life and living.

The fusion of daily simple objects weaved through abstract ideas and the expression of obstacles she has faced and still faces, brings us closer to her, and to the obstacles we have within ourselves.

A mirror reflection, light through glass, sand, glitter, an x-ray, a pin.

The simplicity and playfulness that may not exactly reflect the depth of the obstacles she faces, but shows her inner strength and passion for life that she holds.

The exhibition “Obstacles” runs through from 9 November till 10 December in Space Debris.
