For everyone who has stared with fondness and curiosity at the Haydarpaşa Terminal, either from a passing ferry, the Tibbiye Caddesi bridge to the East, or the Kadıkoy Iskele, and wondered about its history or its future – I can’t speak to either one of those things. But what I can do is give you a closer look at a part you may not have seen at all, the rail yard to the rear. Behind the iconic train station sits a beautiful mess of rust, overgrowth, and graffiti where decommissioned TCDD trains have been laid to rest. Special thanks to the guard who granted me access to the rail yard so these images could be shared.
